There is good reason why dogs are called ‘man’s best friend.’ The little anecdotes that follow will provide you with greater insight into the extent of a dog’s love and loyalty.
DOG SAVES GIRL FROM STRAY DOGS
Sammy was a Dalmatian belonging to Emma. One day, when Sammy was about seven months old, they were going for a walk in the park. Without any apparent reason, Sammy suddenly darted into an alley. Emma ran after him but what she saw made her freeze in her tracks.
Sammy was sitting in front of a little girl about six years old and pressing her into a hedge with his back. In front of him were several large stray dogs. Sammy was growling at them, and Emma was really scared, but she grabbed a nearby stick and began helping Sammy chase the strays away. They finally retreated. The little girl was clutching one of Emma’s legs and told her that the strays were rushing at her, but then Sammy was suddenly there to help.
DOG EMPATHIZES WITH OWNER
An accident a year earlier left Peter without a leg. His Labrador Retriever, Princess, provides the best psychological support he could receive.
When they go for a walk, Princess deliberately bends one of her hind legs (sometimes shifting from one to the other) and hops along on three paws instead of four.
DOG WEARS HER OWNER’S PYJAMAS
Molly had a habit of folding her pyjamas and placing them under her pillow when she made her bed. When her dog Abby was a pup, she would get really lonely when Molly was out. For comfort, she would often jump onto Molly’s bed and get her pyjamas, carry them to the hallway and sleep on them.
She stopped doing this as she got older. However, when Molly had to move to another town due to a career opportunity; she had to leave Abby with her parents. Although Molly visits frequently, Abby still misses her.
Abby missed Molly so much that one day her parents called to tell her that when they came home from doing some shopping, they were greeted by Abby wearing her pyjamas.
PET TORTOISE SAVED BY DOG
Sam’s apartment was on fire. Thankfully, he, his family, and their pet dog got out in time. However, once they were safe, Sam remembered they had left their pet tortoise in the apartment. Just then, he looked down at his dog and saw he was gently holding the tortoise in his mouth.
It is truly wonderful how loving and caring dogs are.
HER DOGS FAVORITE TREAT ARE MUFFINS
Katrina’s dog will do anything to get her favorite treat – a muffin. No one can take it away from her once she has one.
One day, Katrina returned home from a rough day and sunk onto the sofa, exhausted and sobbing. Her dog ran to her and began poking her face with her nose and licking her hands. Katrina kept crying. Then her dog disappeared for a few minutes, returning carrying a muffin in her jaws.
She placed it in front of Katrina and patiently waited for her to calm down.
DOG SENSES GAS LEAK IN THE HOUSE
Suzie was a beautiful red Doberman Pinscher languishing in a kennel where she was repeatedly rejected. She had intelligent eyes and never barked. Finally, one day Amber appeared and took her to a permanent home.
Even when happy in her new home, Suzie never barked. Instead, she would run from one room to another if she wanted something.
One night, Amber was almost asleep in her bed, and she heard muffled barking from somewhere that seemed far away. Amber couldn’t open her eyes; they just felt so heavy. Finally, because of Suzie’s constant barking, she woke up with great difficulty.
Amber finally realized there was a gas leak in the house. Amber would have fallen asleep and never woken up if it weren’t for Suzie who finally found her voice.
DOG DOES THE GROCERY SHOPPING
A Royal Poodle, named Albert is a regular at Grant’s little grocery shop. His owner is an older lady who has difficulty walking. Albert trots into Grant’s shop each day and waits patiently in line for his turn at the counter. Grant removes a small package from his mouth containing a shopping list, a string bag, and some money. Grant fills the bag with the things on the list, rings in the sale and places the change in the bag, and the dog takes his purchases home to his owner.
