Tata was not only known for his visionary leadership but also for his commitment to social work and the deep compassion he had for animals, especially dogs. Time and again, he had dominated the headlines for his kind gestures towards his four-legged friends. One of the most endearing moments was when he allowed stray dogs into Mumbai’s famous Taj Hotel.

As a picture showing a stray dog resting at the hotel’s entrance to the famous property gained massive attention, it was revealed that Tata has issued strict instructions to treat the stray dogs humanely.
The viral photo of dogs sleeping at the hotel entrance was shared on LinkedIn by an HR professional Rubi Khan, who was shocked to see a stray dog sleeping in the lobby of one of India’s most renowned hotels.
Upon inquiry, Khan discovered that Mr Tata had issued ”strict instructions” to treat all animals with respect. And, the dog in the picture has been part of the hotel since birth.
“My curiosity led me to ask the hotel staff about him, and I learned that he has been a part of the hotel since birth. There are strict instructions from Mr Ratan Tata to treat these animals well if they enter the premises,” Rubi wrote in her LinkedIn post back then.
Khan’s post highlighted Tata’s heartwarming, kind gesture towards animals.
Not just the Taj Hotel, but many other TATA properties are always open for strays. It has been reported that there is a specific area for stray dogs at Bombay House, the Tata Group headquarters in Mumbai.
