Golden Retriever Refuses To Get Back In After Pool Day: ‘Not Ready’

A golden retriever named Remy has gone viral on social media for refusing to get back into the house after spending the day in her owners’ pool.

In a video shared on TikTok in July under the username @heatherk122, the pup can be seen in the yard, still wet as she comes out of the pool, taking in all the sun and warmth.

As her dad approaches her to help her get in, she makes herself heavier and refuses to comply, making it clear that she will not move from her new favorite spot.

“When she won’t come in,” reads the layover text in the clip, and a caption shared with the video says: “Never a dull moment!”

Most dogs, like Remy, love water and never seem to get enough of it, however, some can’t stand it and will do anything in their power to avoid it.

Dog wellness experts at Rover state that if your dog’s only experience with water is during bath time, they may not like water in other situations, and if the dog has never seen anything bigger than a tub, larger bodies of water may overwhelm them.

Your dog’s aversion to water could also be part of their personality. “Some dogs are more anxious, period, and others aren’t inclined to take risks like diving into a suspicious new substance,” according to Rover.

There’s no need to worry if your dog doesn’t enjoy water because there are things you can do to show how fun it can be. The first step is to take it slow and avoid forcing your dog into the water. You can bribe your pet with treats. Start in calm waters so they are less frightened.
