Woman Taking Dog for a Walk in the Rain Backfires Spectacularly: ‘Defeat’

The new year has only just begun and people are putting their best foot forward trying to complete resolutions. But sometimes, people slide into the new year in the most unexpected ways.

A dog owner was out walking her XL bully breed. These breeds are known to be exceptionally strong with muscular builds, weighing up to 130 pounds. Their strength and size can sometimes make it difficult to walk them.

Plus, it was a wet and rainy day for a walk, but as dog owners know, the fur babies must still be walked. That, of course, backfired completely for the owner. She mentioned in the comment section that nothing was going to stop this dog from getting his ball.

The caption on the January 6 TikTok video reads: “How’s your 2024 going?”

If your 2024 started on rocky ground, at least your dog didn’t accidentally pull you through a pile of mud just to chase his ball. Thankfully, the owner is laughing about it now.

She said in the comment section: “I was just admitting to defeat at that point.”

The video quickly reached viral status, raking in over 1.7 million views, 79,300 likes and 1,523 comments. Viewers couldn’t stop laughing at this unfortunate mishap during the walk.

“Get a dog they said, it will be fun and joy they said. How true they were,” a viewer commented.

Another wrote: “People in these comments ‘out of control dog’ point out where? All I see is a beautiful XL bully having fun with its owner in the mud.”

This wouldn’t be the first time XL bully breeds have received a bad rap.

Newsweek reached out via TikTok for additional information.

Bully Breed Controversy

The XL bully breed has been making headlines recently following the U.K.’s law banning the breed, going into effect January 1. Newsweek previously reported that the law makes it illegal to breed, sell, advertise, gift, exchange, abandon or let XL bully dogs stray. The owners who already have XL bully dogs must keep them on a lead and muzzled when in public.

The ban was put in place following a “concerning rise in attacks.” An article on the U.K. government website stated that 23 people lost their lives over the past three years from dog attacks, with XL bullies being involved in several of them.
